Grammy-Nominated R&B Singer Angie Stone Dies in Car Crash at 63
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone, known for her hit song “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” and as a member of the pioneering all-female hip-hop trio The Sequence, tragically passed away early Saturday in a car accident. She was 63.
According to her longtime manager, Walter Millsap III, Stone was traveling back to Atlanta from Alabama when the vehicle she was in overturned and was struck by a big rig.
The Alabama Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred around 4:25 a.m. on Interstate 65, roughly five miles south of Montgomery. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, in which Stone was a passenger, flipped before being hit by a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck driven by a 33-year-old Texas man.
